EC Finishes Season at Manchester

Box Score NO. MANCHESTER, Ind. — The Earlham College women's basketball team finished the season on Saturday with a 61-43 loss at Manchester University.

JaLissa Watt (St. Louis, MO, St. Elizabeth Academy ) led the Quakers in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference affair with 13 points and five rebounds.

Karmell Brown (Columbus, OH, Columbus School for Girls), Raven Bryant-Williams (Columbus, OH, Northland) and Kiara Scott (Indianapolis, IN, North Central) tossed in six points each. Scott also had three assists.

The game was close early and the Quakers had a 12-9 advantage after Brown hit a pair of free throws with 11:34 left in the opening period.

The Spartans (10-15, 9-9) fought back and went on top 17-16 by the 9:14 mark.

The Quakers were able to respond and when Bryant-Williams scored with 6:07 to go in the first half.

Manchester finished the half with a 12-3 run to hold a 31-23 lead by intermission.

In the second half, Watt scored five straight points to begin the frame. She hit a 3-pointer to cut the deficit to 31-28 with 19:07 remaining.

The Spartans scored six points in a row to grab a 37-28 lead with 17:01 left.

From that point, Manchester was able to widen its margin on the way to the win.

Saturday was also the final contest in the careers of Brown, Charvonne Long (Edwardsville, IL, Edwardsville) and Natasha Norman (St. Louis, MO, Vashon).

Earlham ends the year with an overall record of 4-21 and a 3-15 mark in the conference.
