EC Tames Lions as Sneed Scores 1,000th Point

Box Score CINCINNATI, Ohio â€" The Earlham College women's basketball team had a dozen players score on Saturday as the Quakers beat the College of Mount St. Joseph 92-64.

"I was extremely proud of the intensity at both ends of the floor from the start of the game to the end," Earlham Head Coach Melissa Johnson said. "Our defensive pressure had a huge impact on their ability to get into an offensive rhythm. It was a complete team victory and each player contributed to this win."

Kasin Spay led the Quakers with 25 points, while Bria Sneed added 13 points and a team-high six assists in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference contest.

With her point total, Sneed became the 11th player in Earlham history to reach 1,000 in her career. All-Time Scoring List

"I am very excited for Bria to each such a big milestone in her career," Johnson said. "She is one of the most competive players I have ever coached."

"She is determined to leave her mark on the program and help elevate our team to the next level," Johnson continued. "While Bria is a great scorer, she is working to get her teammates more involved as evidenced by her six assists."

Sneed now has 1,011 points and is just eight away from Teresa Page (1990-94) for 10th place.

In addition to Spay and Sneed, Shania Feathers also reached double digits for the Quakers on Saturday with 10 points.

Kiara Scott added eight points and three steals. JaLissa Watt finished with seven points and eight rebounds.

The Quakers jumped out to an 18-6 advantage when Sneed scored at 14:18 of the first period.

The Lions (1-12, 1-5) fought back and closed the gap to 28-22 with 7:39 left before halftime.

When Maya Luney hit a pair of free throws to put the Quakers on top 33-22 at 6:09. By the intermission, Earlham led 42-37.

In the second half, the Lions scored the first basket to make it 42-40 before the Quakers went on a run that ended with a basket by Sneed at the 15:51 mark.

Earlham led 52-42 and the Quakers were able to put the game away from that point.

The Quakers (6-7, 2-4) travel to Transylvania University on Wednesday. The HCAC game gets underway at 7:30 p.m.
