EC Posts Big Victory Over Ravens

Box Score RICHMOND, Ind. â€" It didn't take long for the Earlham College women's basketball team to determine the outcome on Saturday as the Quakers posted a 73-42 win over Anderson University.

"This was an outstanding team win," Earlham Head Coach Melissa Johnson said. "We set the tone from the tip with our defensive intensity, which allowed us to get into a rhythm offensively."

"It was great to see everyone get into the game and contribute to this win," Johnson added.

Earlham opened the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference affair on Schuckman Court in the Athletics and Wellness Center with a 13-6 advantage at the 16:45 mark after Bria Sneed hit a pair of free throws.

Late in the first period, the Quakers widened their margin to 33-13 with 1:45 left in the half.

By intermission, the Quakers led 37-15 over the Ravens (1-14, 0-8). In the second half, Earlham continued its dominance as the Quakers opened up a 30-point lead.

Sneed led the Quakers with 18 points, which gives her 1,044 in her career. Shelly Holt (1997-2001) is ninth in school history on the scoring list with 1.057 points.

Hannah Franklin tossed in 12 points for the Quakers. Lexi McFarland and Raven Bryant-Williams finished with nine points each.

Kasin Spay added seven points with a team-high three assists. Danielle Altman had seven points, while JaLissa Watt had four steals.

Earlham (7-8, 3-5) is on the road Wednesday at Defiance College. The HCAC contest starts at 7:30 p.m.
