ANDERSON, Ind. â€" The Earlham College women's basketball team finished the season on Saturday with a 73-61 victory over Anderson University.
Despite the victory, Earlham ended the year tied for sixth place in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference standings with Defiance College and the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. The last spot in the HCAC Tournament went to Rose-Hulman on a tiebreaker.
The Quakers (12-13, 8-10) had three players in double digits on Saturday led by Kasin Spay with 16 points and eight rebounds.
Bria Sneed had 14 points and three assists. She ended her career with 1,212 points as she passed Tasha Merrill (2005-09) for fifth place on Earlham's all-time scoring list. Merrill had 1,201 points.
Jalissa Watt added 13 points for the Quakers.
The game was close early as it was tied five times in the first half with the last coming at 20-20 when Shania Feathers scored at 7:54.
Earlham went on the 6-0 run capped by a pair of free throws from Maya Luney with 6:05 to go up 26-20 in the opening period.
By the intermission, the Quakers led 34-28.
In the second half, the Quakers were able to increase their advantage to 20 points as they put away the Ravens (2-23, 1-17).
The 12 victories this season are the most for an Earlham team since 2002-03 when the Quakers were 13-11.
