Quakers Meet Hanover in Play 4 Kay Contest

Box Score RICHMOND, Ind. â€" The Earlham College women's basketball team had four players in double figures on Saturday as the Quakers fell 86-75 to Hanover College.

Kasin Spay led the Quakers with 19 points in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference contest on Schuckman Court in the Athletics and Wellness Center.

Bria Sneed added 13 points and six rebounds. Sneed now has 1,146 points in her career as she continues to get closer to fifth place on Earlham's all-time scoring list. Tasha Merrill (2005-09) has 1,201 points.

Raven Bryant-Williams tossed in 12 points with seven rebounds, while Maya Luney had 11 points and a team-high 10 rebounds.

Earlham began the game with a 7-0 run capped by a 3-pointer from Spay at the 18:21 mark of the first period.

The Panthers (13-8, 11-3) eventually tied the contest at 15-15 with 15:50 to go in the opening stanza.

Hanover followed with a 12-2 run to build a 27-17 advantage with 12:24 to go.

In the final moments of the first half, Sneed cut the deficit to 44-39 with 2:04 on the clock.

However, by the intermission Hanover was on top 48-39.

The Quakers picked up the first two baskets of the second half to make it 48-43 after Bryant-Williams scored at 19:07.

From that point, Hanover widened its margin and the Panthers were able to hold off the Quakers.

Despite the loss, the Quakers remained tied for sixth place in the HCAC standings with the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and Defiance College.

The Quakers (10-11, 6-8) are at home on Wednesday against Defiance. The HCAC affair starts at 7:30 p.m.

The Quakers also celebrated Play 4 Kay Day and were a part of the National Girls and Women in Sports Day activities prior to Saturday's contest.
