RICHMOND, Ind. â€" The Earlham College women's tennis team dropped a 9-0 decision to Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference foe Transylvania University.

The tightest contests for the Quakers against the Pioneers (1-1, 1-1) were at No. 1 and No. 6 singles.

Claire Welsh battled reigning HCAC Player of the Year Claire Mielcarek in a 7-6 (7-0), 6-0 match in the top spot.

At No. 6, Kaitlin Morgan faced Sophie Head in a 6-2, 6-4 contest.

Earlham (1-3, 0-2) is at Anderson University on Saturday. The HCAC match begins at 11 a.m.
