RICHMOND, Ind. — The Earlham College women's basketball team was led by two players on Saturday as the Quakers defeated Mount St. Joseph University 77-58 on Schuckman Court in the Athletics and Wellness Center.

Hannah Dyer led all scorers with a career-high 27 points in a record-breaking shooting performance. With seven bombs from behind the 3-point line, Dyer passed the 1991 and 1992 marks of six by set Shannon Ferguson, who is a member of the Earlham Athletics Hall of Fame as the all-time leading scorer for the Quakers with 1,969 points.

Kasin Spay followed with 26 points and five assists in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference game. Hannah Franklin added eight points and four assists.

The Quakers jumped out to a 17-5 lead only five minutes into the game which proved to be too much for the Lions (4-9, 0-6) to overcome.

After just one period of play the Quakers were in the lead 44-27.

Earlham was able to expand its lead to 28 points with 10:31 left to go in the second half.

The Quakers (4-9, 1-5) will be back in action Wednesday night at home against Transylvania University. The HCAC contest starts a 7:30 p.m.
Supporting Lauren Hill

Saturday was also an opportunity for Earlham to show its support for Mount St. Joseph's Lauren Hill. Hill's inspirational story of her battle with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG), a form of brain cancer, has been well documented since last fall.

The Earlham women's team wore Lauren's "#22 Cure Starts Now" shirts during warmups and the team has been contributing to the Layup for Lauren challenge.

Hill continues to be a spokesperson, fundraiser and advocate for other kids battling brain cancer through The Cure Starts Now Foundation.
