Box Score RICHMOND, Ind. — The Earlham College women's basketball team hosted the 19th-ranked Div. III team in the country on Wednesday as the Quakers fell 69-39 to Transylvania University on Schuckman Court in the Athletics and Wellness Center.
The nationally-ranked Pioneers (13-1, 7-0), according to the most recent poll on d3hoops.com., are also leading the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference.
Earlham was led by Hannah Dyer with 11 points and Hannah Franklin with 10 points and four assists.
JaLissa Watt grabbed a team-high eight rebounds.
The Quakers jumped out to an early lead, 4-2, with a short jump shot from Shania Feathers at the 17:24 mark in the first half.
From there, the Pioneers went on a 29-2 run making the score 31-6 with 6:21 left in the first period of the conference game.
At the break, the Pioneers led the Quakers 41-10.
In the second half, the Quakers held their ground outscoring the Pioneers 29-28, but it was not enough to overcome the first half deficit.
Earlham (4-10, 1-6) will be back in action in another HCAC match-up at Anderson University on Saturday at 1 p.m.
