Quakers Visit Manchester

NO. MANCHESTER, Ind. — A tough stretch in the second half was the difference on Saturday for the Earlham College women's basketball team as the Quakers fell 73-58 at Manchester University.

Kasin Spay and Hannah Franklin led the Quakers in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference game with 10 points apiece. Franklin had four assists.

Lexi McFarland added seven points, while JaLissa Watt also had seven points to go with nine rebounds and five steals.

The Quakers were behind 23-13 in the first half before they rallied to tied the game at 37-37 with 50 seconds left. The Spartans added the final basket of the period to lead 39-37 at the intermission.

The Spartans (9-8, 6-4) began the second half with a small advantage as the Quakers trailed 49-43 after Shania Feathers scored to close the gap at the 16:00 mark.

Manchester went on the decisive run as the Spartans scored the next 15 points to build a 64-43 margin with 10:04 remaining in the contest.

The Quakers (5-12, 2-8) travel to Transylvania University on Wednesday. The HCAC contest begins at 7:30 p.m.
