Kenyon Edges Women's Basketball on Late Triple

RICHMOND, Ind. – The Earlham College women's basketball team went on an 8-0 run to take a two-point lead with seconds remaining, but a three-pointer from Bailey Dominguez as time expired gave Kenyon a 65-64 win in the 2015 Quaker Tournament Championship on Saturday.

Trailing 62-56 with 3:08 remaining, the Quakers started their comeback. Junior Hannah Franklin scored four straight points for Earlham followed by a layup from junior Maya Luney. One defensive stop later and Earlham had possession with 23 seconds left.

Franklin waiting until the 10-second mark and used a ball screen to drive to her right. The Lynn, Ind., native floated a shot off the glass and in with seven seconds to play.

After a Kenyon timeout, Dominguez drove baseline, which was cut off by senior Kasin Spay. Dominguez then fired a fade-away three-pointer that swished through the net to give the Ladies a narrow victory.

Franklin for Earlham and Dominguez for Kenyon both finished with 16 points. Spay added 14 points with Luney finished with 10 points, nine rebounds, and two assists.

Ifeoma Achimalo was named the 2015 Quaker Tournament Most Valuable Player. Dominguez, Franklin, and Spay were named to the All-Tournament Team.

Earlham dips to 1-2 with the loss and returns to action on Nov. 24 for a 6 p.m. game at St. Mary-of-the-Woods.
