EC Falls to Grizzlies

RICHMOND, Ind. — The Earlham College women's basketball team fell 73-59 to Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference foe Franklin College on Saturday.

Hannah Franklin led the Quakers with 16 points against the Grizzlies (12-10, 10-6) on Schuckman Court in the Athletics and Wellness Center.

JaLissa Watt added 13 points to go with team-high totals of seven rebounds, three assists and three steals.

Lexi McFarland tossed in nine points, while Hannah Dyer finished with seven points. Kasin Spay had six points. Spay was honored prior to the game for being the 12th player in Earlham history to reach 1,000 career points. She now has 1011 points.

Both teams held leads early in the contest and the game was eventually tied at 16-16 with 8:47 left in the first half.

The Grizzlies were able to build a 27-20 lead by the 6:08 mark before the Quakers rallied to go on top 28-27 on a basket by Franklin at 4:08.

By the intermission, the Grizzlies led 34-28.

In the second half, Franklin was able to work its way to a 24-point margin that the Quakers couldn't overcome.

Earlham (8-15, 5-11) entertains Bluffton University on Wednesday in a HCAC contest at 7:30 p.m.
