BEXLEY, Ohio – The Earlham College men's tennis team won its third consecutive match on Saturday, defeating Capital University 7-2 in non-conference action.
Sophomores Adarsh Singh and Nicola Manni and dispatched Santino DiMichaelangelo and John Roberts 8-1 at second doubles. Juniors Vitalii Stadnyk and Vojislav Tatarevic dropped a 9-7 decision at first doubles, but freshmen Jason Lawson and Jake Brown gave the Quakers a 2-1 lead after doubles with an 8-3 win over Hunter Walter and Ben Heiland at third doubles.
In singles, the Quakers took fourth and fifth singles handily. Freshman Joaquin Lerner defeated John Roberts 6-0, 6-1 at fourth singles and freshman Oliver Daniel swept Walter 6-0, 6-0 at fifth singles.
Lawson beat Heiland 6-1, 6-4 at sixth singles while Manni won his third singles match 6-4, 6-4. Stadnyk and Dale Booher played a close first set, but Stadnyk prevailed 7-5, and closed out the first singles match winning set two 6-2.
The Crusaders won a three-set match at second singles to earn their second team point of the match.
Earlham improves to 8-5 with the win and opens Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) play against Hanover College on Wednesday April 5.
