Women's basketball downed at Wilmington

WILMINGTON, Ohio – Wilmington College shot 51.6 percent from the field (32-of-62) and connected on six 3-pointers, and downed the visiting Earlham College women's basketball team, 82-68, in a non-conference contest on Monday night at Fred Raizk Arena.

THE SHORT STORY

Wilmington's 8-0 run spanning the final two minutes of the second quarter stretched the Ohio Quakers' seven-point lead into a 15-point, 46-31 advantage at the intermission.

Another 9-0 run by Wilmington put the Green and White in front by 20+ points, and Earlham was unable to get back within striking distance of Wilmington the rest of the way.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

Senior guard Camryn White led Earlham with 22 points – fourth 20-point game of her career and one-point shy of her career high – on 8-of-16 shooting from the field, with a 6-for-7 ledger at the free-throw line.

First year Trinity McClendon came off the bench and gave the Maroon and White 17 points, and matched junior Rosie Newhart with a team-high five rebounds. Senior Amy Weisner had an 11-point night off the bench.

Earlham fired at a 39.7 percent clip (23-of-58) from the field, and went 0-of-9 from beyond the arc. Wilmington connected on six of its 17 3-point attempts. Wilmington also dominated the boards, 41-29.

WHAT'S NEXT

Earlham women's basketball will open Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play when it next takes to the court on Saturday, Dec. 7, at Mount St. Joseph. Tip-off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
