Women's tennis falls in close fight with Miami-Middletown

RICHMOND, Ind. – A single point in doubles and three points in singles matches left Earlham College women's tennis just shy of its goal as the Quakers fell to visiting Miami-Middletown, 5-4, on Sunday afternoon at the EC Tennis Courts.

The tandem of Abigail Smith and Abby Stewart picked up the Quakers' point in doubles with an 8-6 triumph over Miami-Middletown's Mika Roseberry and Leizl Romero.

Smith and Stewart also came away victorious at no. 2 and no. 4 singles respectively, with Alex Swank also recording a win for Earlham at no. 3 singles.

Earlham returns to the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference loop this week when it hosts Defiance College on Wednesday, Sept. 25, at 4:30 p.m. at the EC Tennis Courts.
