MANCHESTER -- The Earlham College women's soccer team scored its second consecutive Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference win with a 2-0 showing against Manchester on Saturday.
The Quakers improved to 3-9 (2-4 HCAC) while the Spartans fell to 2-10 (1-5 HCAC).
Eva Lyon scored both of the goals for the Quakers in the win. She scored in both the 14th and the 89th minutes.
Lyon's first goal came off of a long shot after a throw in. Lyon collected a high-bouncing ball off of a throw-in and brought it down to take the long-distance shot which sailed past the Spartan goalkeeper.
Her second goal came from a 70-yard breakaway where she beat the pushed-up defensive line on her own and dribbled down to a 1-vs-1 chance with the goalkeeper. Lyon slotted a shot with her left foot to the far side of the goal and put the Quakers up 2-0 with less than two minutes remaining.
The Quakers led in shots 11-6 but Earlham did not manage to tally a corner kick.
Becca Hancock had an uneventful day in goal with only two saves.
Earlham will return to Matlack-Messer stadium on Wednesday for a 3:30 contest with the Pioneers of Transylvania.
