RICHMOND -- The Earlham College volleyball team improved its HCAC record with a win over Manchester University on Saturday. The Quakers defeated the Spartans 3-1 on Pride Night in Druley Performance Gym.
Earlham improved to 13-5 (2-1 HCAC) while Manchester fell to 8-10 (0-3 HCAC).

Giselle Mora paced the Earlham attack with a total of 34 kills between the two. Mora also contributed a team-high four service aces.
Erin Wagner led in the assist category with 38 sets on the afternoon. She also collected 14 digs for the Quakers.
Earlham dominated the first set with a final lead of 25-16. The Quakers attacked at a .423 percentage while holding their opponent to a -.038. A massive 11-1 run by the home team in the set contributed to the large lead.
Manchester started strong and led early in the second set, jumping out to a 5-1 lead early on, but the Earlham defense held the Spartans to a 0 attack percentage. A 7-1 run by Earlham finished the set for the Quakers.
Despite five straight points in the early running of set three, the Earlham offense struggled in the frame. It was the home team's lowest hitting percentage of the match at just .043. The Spartans finally found a rhythm to their offense and took the lead midway through the set, which they never relinquished.
Both teams found success attacking in the fourth and final set. Manchester recorded its highest hitting percentage and kills in the frame while Earlham returned to form with 14 kills. The teams traded runs in the early going, staying within reach. Tied at 20, a 5-0 run for the Quakers sealed the win.
Earlham will return to HCAC competition when Transylvania comes to Druley Performance Gym on Wednesday. The match is slated for 7 p.m.
