Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Younts scores double-double against Anderson

ANDERSON – The Earlham College men's basketball team continued its Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference slate with a 62-56 loss to Anderson University on Saturday.

The Quakers fell to 1-6 (0-3 HCAC) while the Ravens improved to 5-2 ( 1-1 HCAC).

Chase Younts recorded a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds on the afternoon. His seven offensive boards was a game-high and helped contribute to the squad's 18 second chance points.

Tommy Makabu led the scoresheet with a game-high 17 points. The senior made 7-of-16 field goals and added one 3-pointer for the Quakers.

The first half score stayed at a less than five-point gap until Anderson started a 6-0 run with a steal and a dunk by Alex Hunt at the seven minute mark.

Trailing 25-17 with five minutes remaining, the Quakers worked on a recovery run in the closing minutes of the half. Six points from Younts and four from Kolden Vanlandingham helped work the score to 32-29 in favor of Anderson by the halftime break.

After seven minutes of play in the second half, Earlham had tied the score at 41 with a layup by Zachariah Andre. The teams were again held close together on the scoreboard and were tied at 46 with 9:19 remaining in regulation.

Anderson then went on a 12-2 run over the next eight minutes. The Quakers found luck with scoring points in the final minute but struggled to close the points deficit.

The HCAC will take a three week break for the holidays and return to action on New Year's Day where the Quakers will travel to Franklin University. Earlham will contest non-conference games during the break, starting with Berea College on Wednesday in Druley Performance Gym.
