LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Earlham College women's basketball team outscored Spalding University 40-25 in the second half but still fell to the Golden Eagles 69-57 on Saturday afternoon. 

The Quakers fell to 0-9 (0-3 HCAC) while the Golden Eagles improved to 4-7.

Amari Bradford led the Quaker offense with 18 points. Freshman Janaiya Bright followed with 11 points while also bringing in five steals. 

The Quakers struggled to hit shots in the first half, which reflected in their 25% shooting for the first two frames. The only two 3-pointers for Earlham came in the first quarter as the Quakers were 2-for-20 from distance. 

Trailing 44-17 at halftime, the outlook improved in the second half. The Quakers upped their shooting percentage to 47% in the third quarter and 69% in the final frame. The Earlam defense improved in the second half as well. Spalding went from shooting 55% from the field in the first half to just 35% in the second. 

Earlham outscored the Golden Eagles by 15 points total in the second half and will look to build on this momentum going forward after struggling in the first half of the season. 

The Quakers host Adrian College on Tuesday with a 6 pm tip-off. After which, Ealrham will take a break for the holidays and return with Franklin College in Druley Performance Gym on New Year's Day.
