RICHMOND, Ind. - With three goals in the second period, the Earlham College field hockey squad took control on the way to a 5-0 victory over Transylvania University in Darrell Beane Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 18.
With the win, the Quakers remain unbeaten at 6-0, while Transylvania is 0-6.
After
Olivia Layne scored the initial goal of the contest in the opening period for Earlham at 4:07,
Guin Schalck,
Sydney Schmitt and
Regan Seeman each added a goal within eight minutes during the second quarter as the Quakers expanded their margin to 4-0 by the intermission.
Schmitt added her second goal of the affair at the 36:15 mark of the third period for the final tally of the match. Layne and
Denise Bergdolt assisted on the play.
Bergdolt also assisted on the goal by Layne and on the first score by Schmitt.
Reilly Swislosky was credited with an assist on Schalck's goal.
Earlham goalkeeper
Meg Murphy had a save as the Quakers led 28-1 in shots and 14-2 in penalty corners.
The Quakers continue their weekend with a trip to Kentucky to face 17th ranked Centre College on Sunday, Sept. 19. The non-conference match starts at noon.
