RICHMOND -- Despite leading 2-0 early in the match, the Earlham College men's soccer team fell to Baldwin Wallace University 6-2 in Matlack-Messer Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The Quakers dropped to 0-7 while the Yellow Jackets improved to 6-4.
In the ninth minute, Connor Kimball sent
Braden Guinn on a long through ball past the Yellow Jacket defense. Guinn took a touch to corral the pass and beat the goalkeeper on a low shot.
Kimball scored a goal of his own in the 15th minute with the help of
Kevin Arias on another long pass. Arias's pass lured out the BW goalkeeper but Kimball reached the ball first for a low pass into the goal.
After the monumental start for the Quakers, Baldwin Wallace returned the favor with a goal in the 30th minute. The Yellow Jackets led 3-2 going into halftime.
Baldwin Wallace netted two more goals in the first 10 minutes of the second half. A final goal was scored off of a free kick with less than a minute remaining on the clock.
Tyler Smith collected five saves in the loss.
The Quakers were out-shot 19-13 and had a 6-1 deficit in corner kicks.
Earlham will begin HCAC competition with Hanover on Wednesday. The match is scheduled fro 3:30 p.m. in Matlack-Messer Stadium.
