RICHMOND -- The Earlham College men's soccer team was stumped in its HCAC opening match at Matlack-Messer Stadium. The Quakers were defeated by Hanover College with a score of 4-0.
Earlham drops to 0-8, 0-1 HCAC while Hanover improves to 5-3-1, 1-0 HCAC.
Hanover scored on the first two shots of the game. The first one came in the eighth minute with the next coming in the ninth minute.
A third goal was netted by Hanover in the 24th minute off of a corner kick play.
The final goal of the match was scored by Hanover in the 49th minute.
The Quakers were out-shot 17-1 and had a 6-1 deficit in corner kicks.
Earlham's only shot of the contest came from
Taye Ogundipe in the 53rd minute, and was collected by the Hanover goalkeeper.

Tyler Smith collected nine saves in the loss.
Earlham will continue HCAC competition on Saturday against Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. The match will kick off at 3:30 p.m. and will be a part of Homecoming festivities.
