RICHMOND, Ind. - The Earlham College men's soccer team fell 2-0 to Heidelberg University in the opening round of the Raven-Quaker Classic on Saturday, Sept. 4.
A back and forth game between Earlham and Heidelberg turned in the 78th minute when Heidelberg's Rafael Belluccimarin netted the games first goal.
Tyler Smith had three saves in goal for the Quakers during the match at Matlack-Messer Stadium.
The Student Princes scored their second goal of the match at the 83:01 mark as Nick Mangone got by the left side of the Earlham defense and finished under the outstretched arms of Smith.
Heidelberg had a 14-7 advantage in shots and 7-2 edge in corner kicks.
The Quakers (0-2) are back in action at home on Sunday in the finale of the Raven-Quaker Classic against Emory & Henry College at 2 p.m. Emory & Henry (0-1) lost at Anderson University 3-1 on Saturday.
