RICHMOND – The Earlham College men's basketball team continued Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play with an 85-77 loss to Franklin College in Druley Performance Gym on Wednesday evening.
The Quakers fell to 6-9 (2-6 HCAC) while the Grizzlies improved to 9-10 (5-6 HCAC).
Offensive standouts
Kolden Vanlandingham and
Jaden Terry tallied a combined 55 points, 15 rebounds and five steals on the evening. Both players reached career marks with Vanlandingham's 28 points and Terry's 10 rebounds.
Earlham started strong and jumped out to an 8-4 lead three minutes into play. Franklin bounced back and took the lead away just before the 15 minute mark with the score 12-11.
The Grizzlies compiled an 18-11 lead before an 11-0 run from Earlham gave the lead back to the home squad.
With the score tied at 31 with 4:34 remaining, Franklin went on a 16-4 run to end the half. The Grizzlies missed only two shots during this span.
Franklin came out of the break with a 47-35 lead and held the advantage through the entirety of the second half. Earlham scored a 12-2 run near the end of the half, but the deficit was too large to overcome.
Earlham hosts Anderson for a doubleheader in Druley Performance Gym on Saturday. Tip-off for the men's game will be at 3 pm, directly following the women's game.
