RICHMOND – The Earlham College women's basketball team fell in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference competition with an 80-47 final score against Anderson University.
The Quakers fell to 0-15 (0-8 HCAC) while the Ravens improved to 9-9 (6-5 HCAC).
Janaiya Bright led the offense with 11 points and six rebounds while
Alexis Gibson controlled the paint with a team-high nine boards.
The Quakers got in a hole early with a 12-1 deficit at the midway point of the first quarter. Earlham made only two field goals in the period and shot at a 13% accuracy.
The second quarter saw a better offensive showing from the home team as its shooting percentage improved to 38%. The Quakers tallied seven field goals, including two from 3-point range to stick right with the Ravens in the quarter.
The second half saw a decline in offensive production similar to the first quarter and the Quakers struggled to keep pace with the high-scoring Ravens.
Earlham will be back in action on Wednesday with a trip on the road to Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. Tip-off is slated for 7:30 pm.
