Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Moriel nets two on Homecoming

RICHMOND – The Earlham College men's soccer team lost on a comeback effort by Franklin College 4-2 in Matlack-Messer Stadium on Homecoming Saturday.

The Quakers fell to 3-9 (1-5 HCAC) while the Grizzlies improved to 3-9 (3-3 HCAC).

Andre Moriel scored both of the Quaker goals in the contest. The freshman from Murfreesboro, Tenn. collected a rebound on a saved shot by Quentin Berry in the 13th minute and capitalized on an open-goal opportunity for the score.

Moriel found the back of the net again on a long shot over the Grizzly goalkeeper in the 37th minute.

Despite leading 2-1 at halftime, the Quakers surrendered three goals in the second half of play, and were shutout themselves in the second frame.

Both teams recorded 18 shots on the afternoon, but Franklin recorded eight on goal to Earlham's six. Berry led the team in shooting with seven attempts, and three on goal.

Tyler Smith collected four saves in goal.

Earlham will be back in action on Wednesday for HCAC action at Transylvania. Kickoff is slated for 7 pm in Lexington, Ky.
