Berry scores in MSOC loss

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Earlham College men's soccer team continued its 2022 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference slate with a 3-1 loss at Transylvania University on Wednesday evening.

The Quakers fell to 3-9-1 (1-5 HCAC) while the Pioneers improved to 7-4-3 (4-2 HCAC)

Transylvania recorded the first goal of the contest midway through the first half, and led 1-0 going into the break.

The Quakers tied the game in the 55th minute with a goal from Quentin Berry, assisted by Andre Moriel. Moriel received a quick transition at midfield, and found Berry deep on a through ball down the middle of the Transy defense for a one-touch score.

The Pioneers took the lead in the 71st minute after a free kick goal, and added a final score in the 80th minute on a corner kick play.

The Quakers were outshot 25-4, and trailed in corner kicks 8-6.

Tyler Smith collected eight saves in goal.

Earlham will continue its slate on Saturday at Manchester University. Kickoff is slated for 3:30 pm at the Spartans.
