Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Lyon scores game-winner against Manchester

NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. – The Earlham College women's soccer team improved its postseason outlook with a 1-0 win over Manchester University on Saturday afternoon.

The Quakers improved to 5-7-2 (3-5 HCAC) while the Spartans fell to 2-13-1(1-6-1 HCAC)

Eva Lyon scored the lone goal of the contest in the 41st minute to put the Quakers up 1-0 heading into halftime.

Lyon tied with freshman Mallory Smith for the lead in shots with four on the afternoon.

Makayla Hurey collected two saves in goal.

Earlham outshot Manchester 14-7, and led in corner kicks 6-4.

The Quakers currently sit in a tie for sixth place in the HCAC standings with Bluffton University. The Beavers hold the tiebreaker for the final tournament spot after winning the matchup on October 12. Earlham will conclude its regular season on Wednesday in Matlack-Messer Stadium against Anderson University at 3:30 pm. A Quaker win and a Beaver loss on Wednesday would put Earlham into the HCAC tournament as the sixth seed in November.
