DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Earlham College men's soccer team picked up its first Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference win with a 2-1 result over Defiance College on Wednesday.
The Quakers improved to 3-6-1 (1-2 HCAC).
Quentin Berry notched the first goal of the contest in the 14th minute of play. Despite being outshot 11-4 in the first half, the Quakers carried the 1-0 lead into the break.
Defiance leveled the score coming out of the half in the 51st minute, but the tie was short lived.
Braden Guinn got help from an assist by Berry to net the game-winning goal.
The Yellow Jackets took five shots in the final five minutes of regulation, with one being saved by
Tyler Smith, and one hitting the post.
The Quakers were outshot in the contest 25-13, and trailed 8-7 in corner kicks.
Smith made six saves in goal.
Earlham will continue its season on Saturday at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. Kickoff is slated for 3:30 pm.
