ANGOLA, Mich. – The Earlham College men's basketball team dropped its season opener at Trine University 70-61 on Friday evening.
Jaden Terry led the Quakers with 24 points. The junior went 8-for-24 on field goals and had a team-high two 3-pointers.
James Holder led EC at the boards with seven rebounds and seven points.
The Quakers stayed with the Thunder in the first half until a steal and a dunk kicked off a 15-3 run by the home squad. After trailing by 12 heading into the final minute of the period, Earlham scored five straight points to trail 38-31 heading into the break.
The run continued into the second half with fast-break scores from Terry and
Tommy Makabu. Midway through the second half, Holder hit a layup to bring the score to 47-45, the closest Earlham would come in the second frame of play.
The Quakers will continue their season on Monday at Kenyon College. Tip-off is slated for 7 pm at the Owls.
