RICHMOND – The Earlham College men's lacrosse team fell to Hiram College in Darrell Beane Stadium by a score of 11-8 on Saturday afternoon.
The Quakers fell to 2-4 while the Terriers improved to 4-1.
Sam Sargent and
Christian Navarez both netted three goals in the contest. Sargent also dished out four assists to lead the game with seven points.
Emmitt Shaughnessy recorded five saves in goal and earned the loss for the Quakers.
With the score tied at zero after five minutes of play. The Terriers netted two goals within 30 seconds of each other to take a 2-0 lead at the 8:44 mark.
Elijah Gamber responded with a goal with 7:27 remaining in the quarter, followed by a goal from Sargent, assisted by
Kevin Ventura, to equal the score.
Hiram scored three goals in the early minutes of the second Quarter and led 5-2 at halftime.
Sargent and Navarez both struck in the third quarter to bring Earlham back into contention with a score of 5-4. Hiram knocked another goal in before Gambier netted his second of the game with 21 second remaining in the third quarter.
With Earlham trailing 10-5 in the fourth quarter, Sargent scored his third goal of the contest with 10:05 remaining in the game. Navarez also netted two goals in the final 10 minutes of the game for Ealrham.
The Quakers will host Centenary College on Wednesday for a 5 pm contest in Darrell Beane Stadium.
