RICHMOND – The Earlham College women's lacrosse team fell to Alma College 21-4 in Darrell Beane Stadium on Thursday afternoon.
The Quakers fell to 1-4 while the Scots improved to 7-0.
Meredith McGraw caused a team-high two turnovers and also grabbed two ground balls for the Quakers.
Mollie Lyon led the game in draw controls with eight and also scored a goal off of two shots.
Mackenzie Kotch played all 60 minutes in the cage and recorded 11 saves.
Josie Whorton scored the first goal of the game within the first minute of play, with an assist from
Hannah Heyboer.
After an Alma goal with 13:13 remaining in the first quarter, Lyon put the Quakers on top again with an unassisted goal.
The Scots went on to score 12 straight goals through the end of the first quarter and most of the second. The Quakers headed in to the halftime break with some newfound momentum after
Micah Nicholson found the back of the net for a score with three seconds left on the clock.
Earlham was outshot 51-7 on the afternoon and lost the turnover battle 32-9.
The Quakers will be back in action on Sunday at Bethany College in West Virginia. The start time is scheduled for 1 pm deep in the Appalachian Mountains.
