RICHMOND – The Earlham College men's lacrosse team continued its 2022 season with a 15-7 loss to Alma College on Saturday afternoon in Darrell Beane Stadium.
The Quakers fell to 2-6 while the Scots improved to 4-5 on the season.
Sophomore attacker
Sam Sargent recorded a hat trick with three goals from five shots.
Kevin Ventura and
Elijah Gamber bolstered the offense with two goals each.
Benjamin Adkins led the defense with three caused turnovers and four ground balls on the afternoon. Goalkeeper
Emmitt Shaughnessy collected 16 saves in the loss.
The Quakers were outshot 64-14 and lost out in ground balls 41-18.
The Scots tallied two goals in the opening quarter with Shaughnessy making eight saves in the quarter.
The first Quaker goal of the contest came with 10:32 remaining in the second quarter when Sargent struck for his first score of the afternoon. He recorded a second unassisted goal with just under five minutes remaining in the frame.
With the Quakers trailing 7-2, Ventura tabbed the first goal of the second half with 8:39 on the clock in the third.
Gamber recorded his two goals in the third and fourth quarters, with a difference of just under five minutes of gametime.
The Quakers will be back in action on Wednesday at Kalamazoo College in a reschedule of the postponed season opener with the Hornets.
