Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | Tyler Smith

Women's soccer drops Quaker Bowl 1-0

Wilmington, Ohio - The Earlham College Women's Soccer team(1-1-1) traveled to Wilmington College(3-1) for their Quaker Bowl matchup. Kick-off was at 7 pm under the lights at Williams Stadium on Tuesday, September 13th. 

The Earlham defense and goalkeeper Makayla Hurey were active in today's contest facing 17 shots with 10 on goal. 

Hurey recorded seven saves while only allowing one goal on the evening. Bring her GAA (Goals Against Average) to 0.33 as she allowed the first goal of the season. In addition to Hurey's seven saves the Earlham defense recorded another two saves on the evening. 

Wilmington's lone goal of the evening came in the 24th minute from Alexis Wilson, who took six shots on the night, placing five on frame. 

Earlham only took two shots in the contest placing both on frame. Senior Forward Eva Lyon took the first shot for Earlham in the 16th minute but was saved by Wilmington Goalkeeper Lauren Galloway. The Wilmington defense saved freshman Winger Mallory Smith's shot in the 17th minute.

Despite the loss, the Quakers still put in a solid performance on the turf. Earlham will be back in action Saturday, September 17th at Berea College(0-4-1). Kickoff for the contest is at 3 pm, goearlham.com will have up-to-date information on live game coverage.
