BEREA, Ky. – The Earlham College women's soccer team picked up a road win at Berea College on Saturday afternoon by a score of 3-0.
The Quakers improved to 2-1-1 on the season.
Eva Lyon put the first goal away for EC in the 29th minute with a header off of a corner kick from
Jenna Hoeh. Lyon found space on the backside of the goal and out-jumped the Mountaineer defense to get the shot off.
Lyon doubled the lead in the 39th minute after being sent through the Berea defense by
Tess Cunningham. After getting behind the Mountaineers, Lyon hit a low shot to the left side to beat the goalkeeper one-on-one for the score.
Earlham scored again in the 89th minute with an own goal by the Mountaineers off a corner kick by Hoeh.
Hoeh led the Quakers with seven shots, and five on goal on the afternoon. First year
Mallory Smith was second on the team with four shots.
Makayla Hurey recorded seven saves in her third complete-game shutout of the season.
Earlham returns to action on Wednesday against Muskingum University in Matlack-Messer Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 5 pm.
