RICHMOND – The Earlham College men's soccer team fell to Marietta College 3-2 in the final minutes on Saturday afternoon in Matlack-Messer Stadium.
The Quakers fell to 2-2-1 on the season.
Braden Guinn scored the first goal of the game in the ninth minute off of an assist from
Quentin Berry in the right corner of the penalty area. Berry got deep into Pioneer territory and hit Guinn on a drop back into the middle of the field for an open score.
Marietta scored in the 34th minute to send the teams to the halftime break tied.
Guinn got on the scoresheet again in the 51st minute with another assist from Berry, this time on a free kick play from the right side of the field.
The Pioneers tied the game in the 77th minute, and fought to take the lead in the 87th minute.
Earlham was outshot on the day 27-7 and fell behind in corner kicks 6-1.
Tyler Smith made 11 saves in goal, including eight in the second half, and a crossbar shot by the Pioneers.
EC will be back in action on Tuesday against Wittenberg University in Matlack-Messer Stadium. Kickoff is set for 3:30 pm.
