ANDERSON, Ind. — The Earlham College volleyball team battled Anderson University to a 3-2 loss on Saturday afternoon.
Skylar Murray led the Quaker offense with 15 kills and a .217 hitting percentage.
Maria Young scored 11 kills with one ace and six blocks.
Ava Walters dished out 45 assists and scored three kills.
Madison Bizjak led the defense with 22 digs.
As a team, the Quakers scored 52 kills with a .180 attack percentage.
Anderson held the Quakers in check during the opening two frames, with a .058 hitting percentage from the visitors in the stretch. Trailing 13-12 in the third set, the Quakers scored a 9.2 run to begin the rally. The Ravens scored six straight points to tie the score at 21 before a 4-1 run from EC ended the set.
The Quakers attacked at a .375 clip in the fourth set, and took a 16-9 lead before the Ravens rallied back into the set. A 10-2 run by Anderson brought the score to 19-18 in favor of the Ravens. After Kyrk tied the score at 24 with a kill, the Ravens committed two attack errors, with a block from
Gabby Gerardi.
In the fifth set, EC took a 6-4 lead which was quickly closed by a 3-0 run by Anderson. Kyrk gave the Quakers a 12-11 lead with a kill, but the Raves scored a 4-1 run to end the match.
Earlham hosts Transylvania on Wednesday in Druley Performance Gym at 7:30 pm.
