WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Earlham College men's basketball team began its 2023-24 season with a loss at Otterbein University 92-58. 
Kendell Cave impressed in his Quaker debut with a team-high 22 points and 10 rebounds. The freshman went 9-for-18. 
Ken Walker also hit double-digits with 18 points and four rebounds. 
The Cardinals capitalized on early shooting to jump out to a 25-11 lead in the opening 11 minutes. Started by a dunk by Cave with 32 seconds left, the Quakers scored a 6-0 run through the end of the first half, and start of the second. 
Starting with 15 minutes remaining in the second half, Otterbein scored a 20-6 run to increase its lead to 71-46. 
The Quakers will be back in Druley Performance Gym on Saturday for the Melissa Johnson/Hope Classic. Earlham hosts Carroll University on Saturday at noon, and Capital University on Sunday at 4 pm.
