CARMEL, Ind. – The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference has named Earlham College sophomore
Jay Bright as this week's women's basketball Athlete of the Week.
The recognition comes after Bright averaged 23 points and 5.5 rebounds per game for the week, including a career-high performance.
Bright scored 14 points with nine rebounds and two steals in a double-overtime matchup with Bluffton in Druley Performance Gym. The sophomore led the Quakers in rebounds and was 100% on free throws.
She then scored 32 points at Mount St. Joseph for a new career mark. Bright went 12-for-17 on field goals, and 2-for-2 on 3-pointers in the contest.
"This is a well deserved honor for Jay. She comes in and is a positive leader and hard worker for our program every day" said head coach
Shanna Thompson.
This is the first Player of the Week honor of Bright's career.
The Quakers host Defiance College tomorrow evening in Druley Performance Gym at 7:30 pm. EC won the first matchup of the season 56-50 at Defiance in January.
