RICHMOND – The Earlham College men's lacrosse team picked up a win on Senior Night with a 12-9 final score against Spalding University on Tuesday evening.
The Quakers improved to 4-7 on the season (1-2 HCAC).
Freshman
Ryan Polack led EC with five goals and three assists on the day on 22 shots.
Robert Gift earned a hat trick with three goals and two assists.
Ben Adkins also notched three scores.
Donovan Shea led the defense with 11 caused turnovers and 15 ground balls. Shea also had a 100% face off percentage.
Emmitt Shaughnessy collected five saves in the cage, and recorded a shot on offense.
Polack got the Quakers on the board in the fifth minute of action with an unassisted score. The Eagles responded with three straight goals, and led 2-1 at the quarter break.
The Quakers got back on track in the second quarter with five goals, starting with a score from Gift at the 10:53 mark. Less than 50 seconds later, Adkins leveled the score at three. After a goal from Spalding,
Elijah Gamber, Adkins, and Gift all found the back of the cage to give Earlham a 6-4 lead. The Eagles scored twice in the final three minutes of the half, to tie the game at six going into the break.
Spalding took the lead out of the break with a goal at the 12:28 mark of the third quarter. Earlham then took hold of the game with four straight goals. Trailing 10-7 in the fourth quarter, Spalding scored twice in the frame. Polack ended the day with two more goals in the final 10 minutes.
Earlham will be back in action to close out the regular season on Saturday against Anderson in Darrell Beane Stadium. The contest is slated for 4 pm.
