CINCINNATI, Ohio – The Earlham College track and field team completed its last tune up before the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships with the Mount St. Joseph Invitational on Saturday.
Both teams finished in fifth place overall, with the men scoring 12 points and the women recording 16.
Here are some of the top EC performances of the day:
Conner Kimball won the men's 800 meter run with a finishing time of 1:59.78. Kimball currently holds the fastest time in the HCAC in the 800.
Ethan Rose also placed in the 800, with a time of 2:03.74.
Elena Stirn placed second in the 1,500 meter run with a time of 5:17.12. The finishing time was good enough to qualify Stirn into the championship meet next weekend.
Willow Runyon earned a podium finish in the women's long jump with a leap of 4.68 meters to finish in third place.
Alexis Gibson placed third in the women's javelin, and qualified for the conference meet with a mark of 32.13 meters. Gibson also placed seventh in the discus.
David Turner scored a sixth-place finish in the long jump with a mark of 5.94 meters.
Runyon placed fifth in the women's 100 meter dash with a time of 13.72 seconds. The sophomore also came in fifth in the 200 meter dash with a final time of 29.09.
Alex Roberts placed seventh in the men's 1,500 meter run with a time of 4:25.28
Lily Schamel earned a sixth-place finish in the women's 800 meter run with her time of 2:36.83 in the two-lap race.
The Quakers will be back in action next weekend at the conference championship meet, hosted by Franklin College.
