JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – The Earlham College volleyball team began its 2023 season by going 2-0 on opening day of the Illinois College Tournament on Friday.
GAME ONE: EARLHAM 3 BLACKBURN 0 (25-19, 25-20, 25-21)
The Quakers took down Blackburn to begin the season in straight sets led by Anniyah Harrington and
Liv Kyrk on offense. The duo combined for 23 kills and a .258 hitting percentage in game one of the evening.
Ava Walters took over setting responsibilities with 24 assists and one serving ace in the match. Libero
Lauren Newcomer led the Quaker back line with 14 digs.
GAME TWO EARLHAM 3 LUTHER 0 (25-12, 25-20, 25-21)
Kyrk led the Quakers offensively again with seven kills in match two. The senior boasted a .538 attack percentage in the match.
Maria Young recorded five kills and a .200 clip.
Sydney Bleylee dished out 10 assists, and had two serving aces in the match. Newcomer led the defense again with 17 digs.
Earlham will be back in action tomorrow with two more matches in the Illinois College Tournament beginning at 10 am CT with Illinois College.
