GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Earlham College volleyball team was swept by No.4 Calvin on Friday evening to begin the Knight Invite.
The Knights were voted the No.4 volleyball team in the latest poll by the American Volleyball Coaches Association with a 10-1 record.
Caylee Brandes scored nine kills on the evening, and collected two blocks.
Maria Young followed with seven kills, and two blocks.
Ava Walters dished out 18 assists.
Lauren Newcomer led the defense with 14 digs, and two service aces.
The Quakers put up 16 kills in set one, and led 23-18 before a Calvin rally brought the Knights back into the lead. Earlham put up a .233 attack percentage in the first set, before shooting negative in both the following sets.
The Quakers will continue the tournament tomorrow morning against Concordia Wisconsin. The match is scheduled for 11 am.
