LEXINGTON, Ky. – After leading 2-0 at the halftime break, the Earlham College women's soccer team fell to Spalding University 3-2 on Wednesday evening.
Liz Burley got Earlham on the scoreboard in the 12th minute of play after connecting on a cross from
Isabel Slone off the right side.
Slone also notched a goal in the 20th minute of action after being sent on a through ball by Quin Doden. After receiving the pass, Slone took a touch to her left to beat the last defender before placing a shot under the Golden Eagle goalkeeper for the score.
After trailing 2-0 at halftime, Spalding mounted a three-goal comeback in the second half.
The Quakers were outshot 24-10 on the evening, and trailed in corner kicks 8-3.
Makayla Hurey collected 11 saves in goal.
Earlham will be back in action on Saturday against UC-Clermont at home with a 2 pm start time.
