TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Earlham College men's basketball team dropped a one-point battle at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology on Wednesday evening. The lead changed five times in the final three minutes of play.
Garnering 27 minutes off the bench,
Kendell Cave led the team in scoring with 15 points and six rebounds. Joffrey Nunally recorded 11 assists on the evening, a feat last achieved on 11/27/09 by Shane Heidt.
Ken Walker scored 14 points, and
Jackson Rhodes brought down six boards.
Rose Hulman scored a 7-0 run to take an 11-5 lead with 16:30 remaining in the first half. Three minutes later,
Aidan Temple scored on a layup to tie the game at 11. The Engineers led 19-13 before a 14-2 run by the Quakers. Earlham led 39-30 going into the halftime break.
The Engineers began the second half with a 7-0 run, and tied the score a 48 at the 11:53 mark. The hosts then scored a 4-0 run to tie the game at 64 with just under three minutes remaining. The teams then exchanged the lead five times in the final three minutes.
Tied at 71, Rose-Hulman scored a winning point on a free throw with three seconds left in the contest.
Earlham will continue play on Saturday against Manchester in Druley Performance Gym. Tip-off is slated for 3 pm.
