NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. – The Earlham College women's basketball team fell to Manchester University 73-63 in HCAC action on Saturday afternoon.
Jay Bright led the Quakers with 17 points, five assists, two steals and three rebounds.
Abby Parsons scored 15 points and collected six boards.
Willow Runyon and
Bailey Gibson each collected eight rebounds, and scored two points.
The Quakers jumped out to a 10-0 lead after three minutes of play, but the Spartans responded with 10 straight points to tie the game. Manchester was leading 16-12 before Bright scored a 3-pointer in the final seconds of the first quarter.
Manchester began the second frame with a 9-1 run, which was ended by a 3-pointer by
Jaylee Hubble with 5:49 remaining in the quarter.
Earlham found its groove again in the fourth quarter with a 12-2 run to bring the score to 59-57. The Quakers were unable to capitalize on the run to take the lead.
Earlham will continue play on Wednesday at Defiance College at 7:30 pm.
