CINCINNATI, Ohio – The Earlham College women's basketball team dropped a conference matchup at Mount St. Joseph University 68-55 on Saturday afternoon.
The Quakers fell to 3-8 (1-5 HCAC) while the Lions improved to 11-2 (5-1 HCAC).
Willow Runyon and
Abby Parsons led the Quakers with 12 points and three rebounds each.
Amari Wright brought down a team-high seven rebounds.
After the Lions took an 11-3 lead in the opening four minutes of play, Earlham scored a 16-4 run which included four 3-pointers, and three from Parsons. The Lions tied the game at 19 in the final minute of the quarter.
Both teams combined for only 15 points, and a 20% field goal percentage in the second quarter, and MSJ went into the halftime break with a 27-26 lead.
The Lions began the second half with an 8-2 run to lead 35-28. Earlham recovered with an 8-2 run before the Lions took control of the quarter. Mount scored eight straight points, and outscored the Quakers 10-3 in the final four minutes of the frame.
The Quakers will be back in action on Wednesday at home against Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. Tip-off is slated for 7:30 pm.
