LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Earlham College volleyball team continued play with a 3-0 loss at Transylvania University on Wednesday evening.
Caylee Brandes led the Quaker offense with 12 kills and a .219 average through three sets.
Ava Walters dished out 16 assists while
Sydney Bleyle had 10 assists and two aces.
Lauren Newcomer led the back line with 12 digs.
The Quakers had their most efficient set in the opener, hitting .200 as a team, on just three errors. However, the Pioneer defense held the visitors to just eight kills in a 25-16 win. Earlham scored 14 kills in set two, and reached 22 points with a 5-2 run, but the Pioneers scored three straight to take a 24-20 lead late in the set. Earlham then committed five errors on eight kills in the final frame, while Transy hit .340 with a 25-14 win.
The Quakers will be back in action on Saturday afternoon in Druley Performance Gym against Franklin College. First serve is scheduled for 1 pm.
