DELAWARE, Ohio – The Earlham College volleyball team swept Ohio Wesleyan University 3-0 in non-conference play on Tuesday evening.
Caylee Brandes led the Quakers with 10 kills and a .261 attack percentage.
Skyler Murray reached nine kills and posted a .304 hitting percentage.
Liv Kyrk scored seven kills with just one error and four blocks with one ace.
Sydney Bleyle dished out 17 assists and hit two aces.
Ava Walters tallied 13 assists.
Madison Bizjak led the Quaker defense with 14 digs.
As a team, Earlham hit at a .204 clip in the match.
Trailing 15-12 in the first set, Earlham scored four straight to lead 16-15. Then after trailing 18-17, the Quakers went on a 7-2 run to lead 24-20. The Bishops scored two points, but Earlham won the set on a service error.
Earlham committed just three errors in the second frame, and it resulted in an 11-point win in the set. The Quakers jumped out to a 9-2 lead, and scored two more 4+ point runs later in the set.
The Bishops started hot in set three, taking a 7-3 lead. Earlham slowly worked the score back, and after trailing 19-17, the Quakers went on an 8-4 run to win the match.
Earlham continues HCAC play on Friday at Manchester University. First serve is scheduled for 7 pm.
