RIVER PARK, Ill. — Trailing 3-0 at halftime, The Earlham College men's lacrosse team was led by sophomore
Ethan Upton in a 9-3 comeback win over Concordia University Chicago on Saturday afternoon.
After allowing three goals in the opening 20 minutes, the Quakers held a shutout in the second half of play.
After a goal by
Donovan Shea with 11:54 remaining in the third quarter, Upton scored three straight goals to put the Quakers ahead in the third frame. Upton then began the fourth quarter with an assist to Ben Atkins in just 57 seconds of play time.
Upton led the offense with five goals on 10 shots, and one assist.
Justin Boritzki and
Ryan Polack scored the final two goals for the visitors.
Shea also led the midfield with 12 ground balls, and went 7-for-12 on faceoffs.
Braden Greeno collected eight saves in his first win in goal.
Earlham outshot the Cougars 51-18, and won the ground ball battle 26-18. The Quakers went 5-for-5 on clear opportunities, and 10-for-16 on faceoffs.
Earlham will continue its road streak at Wilmington College next Saturday at 1 pm.
