FORT PIERCE, Fla. – The Earlham College baseball team began its spring trip to Florida with an 11-1 win over Thiel College on Monday afternoon.
Braeden Lewis tossed a complete seven innings on the mound with six hits and one earned run. Lewis struck out three batters in the win.
Ian Bullis went 3-for-3 at the plate with a double, three RBI and two runs scored.
Noah Rosato had two base hits with one double and four RBI.
Earlham plated three runs in the first inning, first on a sacrifice fly by
Max Fries.
Quin Adelson then hit an RBI on an infield single to score
Jonathan Jimenez. Bullis brought home the final run of the inning with a single to right-center field.
In the bottom of the third inning, Rosato knocked a two-RBI single to right field to bring home Bullis and
Max Stewart.
Earlham then added five runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. Bullis earned a walk with the bases loaded and only one out. Then Stewart hit a two-out single down the left field line to bring home two more runs. After Stewart advanced on a wild pitch, Rosato brought home two more runs with a double to right-center field.
The Tomcats scored their lone run in the top of the fifth inning after a pair of outfield hits.
Earlham got its final run of the game home in the bottom of the frame with a double to left field by Bullis. Earlham left three runners on base to end the inning.
The Quakers will be back in action tomorrow for a night game against Lasell University. First pitch is scheduled for 7:30 pm.
